Terms of Service

Effective date: July 11, 2026
Last updated: July 11, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of https://readaloudtext.com and its text-to-speech, document, audio-sharing, voice-cloning, Multi-Voice Studio, account, and related features (collectively, the “Service”).

The Service is operated by Hasitha Chandrasekara, an individual based in Sri Lanka (“Read Aloud Text,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

Children under 16 may use a listener-only share link supplied by a teacher, parent, or guardian under appropriate adult or school supervision, but may not create an account, upload content, purchase a plan, or submit personal data.

Voice cloning is available only to users aged 18 or older.

You represent that you have legal capacity to enter into these Terms and that your use of the Service is lawful in your jurisdiction.

2. The Service

Read Aloud Text may provide:

Features, voices, languages, providers, limits, and availability may change. Features identified as beta, preview, experimental, or not yet released may be modified or withdrawn at any time.

Document extraction is not guaranteed to reproduce every table, equation, footnote, image, citation, column, or scanned page correctly. You must review extracted content before relying on or distributing it.

3. Accounts and security

You must provide accurate, current information and maintain one account for your own authorized use unless we approve otherwise. You are responsible for safeguarding login credentials and for activity performed through your account.

Notify support@readaloudtext.com promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. We may require identity or security verification before restoring access or processing a sensitive request.

4. Plans, credits, and renewals

The current plans, prices, limits, storage periods, and voice availability are shown on the pricing or checkout page and form part of these Terms.

We may change future prices or plan features. Changes to recurring prices will apply no earlier than the next renewal after any notice required by law. If you do not agree to a change, cancel before renewal.

5. Payments and merchant of record

Web purchases are processed by Creem, which acts as merchant of record and contractual reseller for the payment transaction. Creem collects payment, issues invoices or receipts, calculates applicable transaction taxes, and administers payment-related matters under its buyer terms and privacy notice.

You authorize us and Creem to exchange the transaction, subscription, entitlement, refund, and fraud-prevention information necessary to provide the Service. We do not store your full card number.

Your use of the product remains governed by these Terms. Creem’s buyer terms also apply to the purchase transaction. In the event of a payment dispute, applicable law and Creem’s mandatory obligations as merchant of record prevail.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel through the available billing portal. Cancellation does not automatically create a refund and does not reverse usage already consumed.

Refund requests are governed by our Refund Policy and any mandatory rights under applicable law. Creem may technically issue an approved refund as merchant of record. Refund abuse, chargeback abuse, or misrepresentation may result in account restriction or termination.

7. Storage and deletion

Storage depends on plan:

These periods may apply to extracted text, projects, generation history, audio, and share links. Guest text and generated audio are not saved to an account or retained in our primary application storage after the request completes.

You can delete supported items and your account through account controls. Account deletion permanently removes access to stored projects, audio, share links, cloned voices, remaining subscription credits, and top-up credits, subject to limited legal, billing, fraud-prevention, security, provider-integrity, and backup retention described in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for downloading or backing up content you wish to preserve before expiration, cancellation, or deletion.

8. Your content and ownership

“User Content” includes text, documents, scripts, prompts, voice recordings, names, likenesses, instructions, and other material you submit. As between you and Read Aloud Text, you retain your rights in User Content.

To operate the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, copy, transmit, format, process, modify for technical purposes, and disclose User Content to our providers solely as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, support, and enforce the Service. This license ends when the content is deleted, except for limited backups, legal records, security records, or material you intentionally shared with others before deletion.

As between you and Read Aloud Text, you may use generated audio for personal or commercial purposes on any plan, subject to these Terms, applicable law, the rights of others, and any unavoidable restrictions attached to third-party material you supplied. AI-generated output may not be unique or eligible for intellectual-property protection in every jurisdiction. Similar output may be generated for others.

We do not acquire ownership of your input or generated audio merely because you use the Service.

9. Your responsibilities

You represent and warrant that:

You are responsible for obtaining permission before uploading another person’s writing, confidential information, personal data, or voice.

10. Voice cloning and synthetic audio

You may clone only:

You must not clone or use:

You must clearly disclose that audio is synthetic where required by law, platform policy, contractual duty, or reasonable audience expectations.

We may require consent confirmations, identity checks, supporting evidence, or renewed authorization. We may block, delete, preserve, investigate, or report voice models or audio where we reasonably suspect misuse or a legal or safety risk.

11. Prohibited uses

You must not use the Service to:

12. Share links

A share link can be opened by anyone who possesses it. Shared pages may expose generated audio, associated text, and synchronized word highlighting. Share links are unlisted but are not confidential, password-protected, or guaranteed against onward sharing unless the Service expressly states otherwise.

You are responsible for the content you share, the recipients you choose, and obtaining permission from people whose personal data, writing, or voice appears in shared content. Delete a link promptly if it is disclosed unintentionally.

13. AI and output limitations

Synthetic voices and automated extraction can produce errors, omissions, unnatural pronunciation, timing mistakes, artifacts, or content that resembles other output. The Service is not a substitute for professional advice, human review, accessibility accommodation required by law, or an authoritative copy of a document.

Do not rely on generated audio for emergency, medical, legal, financial, safety-critical, identity-verification, or authentication purposes. You are responsible for evaluating output for your intended use.

14. Service availability and changes

We aim to provide a reliable Service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access, permanent availability of a specific voice or provider, or error-free output. Maintenance, provider outages, legal restrictions, capacity, security events, or product changes may affect availability.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features. Where reasonably practicable, we will provide notice of a material discontinuation affecting paid users and an opportunity to export eligible stored content.

15. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary because of:

Where appropriate, we may provide notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue. Serious safety, fraud, or legal risks may require immediate action.

Termination does not affect accrued payment obligations, ownership provisions, disclaimers, liability limitations, indemnities, dispute provisions, or other terms that by their nature should survive.

16. Our intellectual property

The Service, website design, software, branding, documentation, and content supplied by us are owned by or licensed to Read Aloud Text and are protected by applicable law. Except for the limited right to use the Service under these Terms, no rights are transferred to you.

Feedback may be used without restriction or compensation, provided we do not publicly identify you without permission.

17. Third-party services

The Service relies on providers including Google Firebase, Google Cloud, Cloudflare, Creem, ElevenLabs, Microsoft Azure, Cartesia, Google Analytics, and Zoho Mail. We are not responsible for an independent third-party service outside our control. Provider changes, outages, restrictions, and terms may affect the Service.

18. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and quiet enjoyment.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

19. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Read Aloud Text and Hasitha Chandrasekara will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, opportunity, or business interruption arising from the Service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, total aggregate liability arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of:

These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability arising from fraud, willful misconduct, or other non-excludable responsibility.

20. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Read Aloud Text and Hasitha Chandrasekara from third-party claims, losses, liabilities, penalties, and reasonable costs arising from your User Content, voice cloning, shared links, commercial use of output, violation of these Terms or law, or infringement of another person’s rights.

This section does not require a consumer to indemnify us where such an obligation is prohibited by applicable consumer law.

21. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Before filing a claim, you and Read Aloud Text agree to attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute by written notice and 30 days of discussion.

Subject to mandatory consumer rights and any court jurisdiction that cannot be waived, disputes may be brought before the competent courts of Sri Lanka. Consumers retain any mandatory rights and remedies available under the law of their habitual residence.

22. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the Service, providers, risk, or law. We will post the revised Terms and update the date above. Material changes affecting an active paid subscription will receive additional notice where required. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.

23. General terms

If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remainder will remain effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a transfer or restructuring of the Service. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, GDPR Policy, Refund Policy, and applicable checkout terms form the agreement governing the Service.
